GLASS FIBRE GRID / POLYESTER GEOTEXTILE COMPOSITE

Rotaflex®

▪ Subgrade drainage and waterproofing

Adequate subgrade drainage of pavements is the key factor for extending pavement life. Rotaflex is used within the asphalt overlay to provide reinforcement and waterproofing. The geocomposite drainage layer Pozidrain performs as an efficient capillary migration break and drainage layer below the sub-base.

Strain compatibility

Hook's Law states that for any given stress in a material, there is an associated strain. We are concerned with reducing cracks i.e. limiting strain within the asphalt. At the serviceability limit, therefore, the Rotaflex is at least 2-3 times stronger than polypropylene systems. Ultimate tensile strength is not a true indicator of performance.

Recyclable

Rotaflex is recyclable in the asphalt mix. It can be planed by ordinary equipment and actually improves the asphalt mix properties. The glass fibre strands do not melt or burn in the mix but create a reinforcing matrix.

Rotaflex in use

Rotaflex provides a more environmentally acceptable solution than thick overlays. Reduced overlay thickness uses less transport and helps conserve finite natural resources. Rotaflex grids are easy to lay. When unrolled they do not spring back or wrinkle like polypropylene grids. Rotaflex sticks solidly even to damp, or planed surfaces. The whole system has been conceived to enable the benefits of reinforcement to be obtained without disruption to the normal surfacing installation. The 2m wide rolls enable closure of one lane at a time and make laying around horizontal curves a simple task. ABG provides a full installation service or laying machines for weekly hire.
