In the manufacture
of Erosamat Type 2 the highest percentage
of best quality Anjengo yarn is used. This has the
best content of Lignin and is resistant to mould and
rot. Coir biodegrades very slowly over a 5-10 year
period and provides plenty of time for plants to
establish, even on very poor soils. The products of
decomposition form plant nutrients.
Erosamat Type 2 consists of woven mats of coir
yarn that effectively reduce the exposure of the
soil surface to rainfall, wind and water. The
tight weave of the mats will protect the soil until
vegetation is established.
Erosamat Type 2 is a natural golden brown colour
which blends in with the surrounding environment.
Coir fibres swell when wet and then retain moisture
to create an excellent microclimate for plant
growth. Erosamat Type 2 is often used below
water and at the water line of rivers and channels.
